"Surprisingly easy to use"
I’ve been using step for a bit now, and I’m pleasantly surprised by how simple the app is. Checking my balance, sending money, and looking at my purchases all take just a few seconds. It doesn’t feel cluttered or confusing like some other banking apps I’ve tried. So far I haven’t had any major issues, and everything loads quickly for me

"Decent rewards, but they take a while"
The referral bonus is nice when it actually goes through, and the rewards are decent overall. My only issue is that sometimes they take forever to show up, and I can’t help but wonder if they’re just backed up or maybe processing some accounts slower than others. It’s not a bad experience, but it definitely feels like it could be smoother

"Fraud issue was sorted out quickly"
I had a fraud issue come up and the dispute was handled fast. Nothing too complicated, and I felt a lot better once it was taken care of. Overall, a solid experience

"Got locked out and verification was a mess"
I couldn’t get into my Step account and the whole verification process just kept sending me in circles. I uploaded the stuff they asked for, but then it still said it couldn’t verify me or that I needed to do more steps.

Support didn’t really help much either. It was mostly waiting around and getting the same answers over and over. I just wanted to get back into my own account, so it was really frustrating.

"I like that I can quickly check what..."
I like that I can quickly check what my teen is spending and set limits without making it a whole big thing. It gives me a little peace of mind while they’re learning how to handle money. Some days I still worry because, you know, teenagers, but overall it’s been really useful and easy to manage.

"Pretty clear fees, which I appreciate"
The fees have been straightforward so far. I kept waiting for some random hidden charge to pop up like, “Okay, where’s the catch?” but I haven’t noticed anything weird. Everything’s been clear, which is exactly how it should be.

"Took longer than I expected"
My card ended up arriving later than expected, and then I had a hard time getting it activated because it kept failing. It was frustrating in the moment, especially since I was ready to start using it, but it reminded me how much the little setup details matter when you’re counting on something new to work smoothly.

"Support got back to me quickly"
It took a little bit, but not longer than I’d consider reasonable. I usually expect support to at least follow through and actually help, and they did that. Once they got back to me, they were able to sort things out...

"Direct deposit is slower than other banks I’ve used"
My direct deposit has shown up late twice now, which is frustrating when I’m trying to make sure bills are paid on time. With other banks I’ve used, my paycheck usually hits right when I expect it, so this has been a bit disappointing.

"Teen banking sounded better than it ended up being"
I got Step for my teen because it looked like it would be easy and kinda low-stress, but it ended up being more annoying than I expected. The app is simple, which is nice at first, but then you start looking for parent stuff and it’s like, okay where is everything?
Transfers took longer than I thought they would, and the spending controls didn’t feel as useful as I wanted. I was hoping for clearer alerts and easier limits, not sitting there wondering if a change actually went through or not.
We also had a card issue and support was slow getting back to us. For something tied to my kid’s money, I just need it to work and feel reliable. We gave it a try, but we ended up switching to something else...

"Credit building didn’t really make sense to me"
I signed up for step mainly because I wanted to build my credit, but i’m not seeing much of a difference. The app itself is simple enough to use, so no complaints there, but the whole credit-building part feels super slow and kind of confusing. I’ve been using it for months and I still don’t really know what it’s actually doing for my credit. Like, make it make sense. Maybe it works better for other people, but for me it was disappointing.

"Transactions can be frustratingly slow"
step is fine when everything actually goes through like it’s supposed to, but I’ve had a few transactions take way longer than I expected, i don’t have the patience to sit around wondering if my money is stuck somewhere. It made me nervous, especially since support wasn’t exactly quick to respond either. It’s not the worst app I’ve used, but right now I wouldn’t trust it for anything important or time-sensitive.
